Other Stuff:

Our current space in the Silver Building consists of approximately 2000 square feet. This includes a main gallery and showroom, a gift gallery and two other large exhibit spaces, one of which doubles as a classroom. We also have a small office, a storage room which artists keep extra work and a larger storeroom which houses display racks, seasonal decorations and other large items.

Our gallery is staffed by member artists on a rotating basis. Each works one or two days a month to keep the gallery open.

We are open five full days [11-5 winter, and 10-5 summer] and one half day [Sunday 1-5] each week. Currently we are closed on Tuesdays.

We contract with a bookkeeper and an accountant to do our necessary reports and taxes.

About the CASG

Our Mission: "Carolina Artist Studio Gallery, Inc. shall promote the visual arts in Eastern North Carolina. The object is to cultivate commlunity awareness in the visual arts; nurture an appreciation of contemporary art and artists; bring art experiences to the public [including the handicapped, school children and the elderly]; and provide a constant flow of art for students to study various art techniques and media. The organization also promotes the arts by giving working and emerging artists the opportunity to associate with other artists and increase their own skills.

History: In 1997, a group of five women who met in a watercolor class, started meeting together to paint. They began to dream of having a place where artists could meet, show their work, hold classes and generally promote the arts in this area. They pooled their talents and money and rented the space at 800Evans Street, and the dream became a reality.

Our gallery is well-received by those who visit, and many vacationers return each year. We have visitors from all over the county, as well as from abroad. All leave favorable comments in our guest book!
